Gallium arsenide (GaAs) technology has always been leading the implementation of the high frequency circuits in optical and wireless applications in commercial, military and space service markets. GaAs technology inherently has electronic properties superior to those of other mainstream Silicon based technologies, such as higher saturation current and wide band gap. These properties allows for the implementation of high frequency active and passive device with superior performance. With the recent explosive growth of high speed communications, GaAs technology continues to lead in those markets where performance is the driving force, be it high power, low noise or low jitter requirements.
